How to Stir-Fry Rice Vermicelli

 

Vermicelli is sometimes referred to as rice noodles or rice sticks. It is a thin form of a noodle. Different regions may have diverse names for vermicelli. In Malaysia and Singapore, it is called “bihun,” “beehoon,” or “meehoon.” In the Philippines, rice vermicelli is normally known as “bihon” and in Thailand it will be known as “sen mee”. 

Rice vermicelli is like a transformer as an ingredient since it can be formed into various notable dishes with various ingredients. It can be cooked with chicken, tofu, shrimp or simply with vegetables to make it a vegetarian rice vermicelli. It will be tasty even with simple ingredients. Different cooking techniques or methods bring you different taste sensations.

This article will briefly teach you how to cook Chinese stir fry rice vermicelli.

Here is the stir-fry rice vermicelli recipe:

Ingredients

  • 250 g Jati Premiere Vermicelli or Jati Vermicelli
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 2 minced scallot
  • 2 large carrot
  • About half to one head of cabbage

Tools

  • Big bowl
  • Colander
  • Slicer mandoline / knife
  • Wok / large pan

Methods

  1. Soak the rice vermicelli in warm water for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Drain the rice vermicelli with a colander and rinse them under cold water.
  3. Set the noodles aside.
  4. Use a slicer mandoline or a sharp knife to shred and slice the cabbage and carrot into thin strips.
  5. Heat the wok over high heat. After the wok is fully heated, add the oil.
  6. Add the shallot, garlic and ginger. Fry and stir them for 10 to 20 seconds.
  7. Add carrots and cabbage. Stir fry them until the ingredients become soft.
  8. Add the rice vermicelli and remaining ingredients.
  9. Mix the ingredients well. Continue to stir fry until cooked.
  10. You can adjust the seasoning if necessary before dishing out and serving😉
